Happy Fourth Of July Part Two- The Goodies

I haven't baked any treats since these little cuties last Christmas and the itch to make some more sugar cookies has been building so I thought 4th of July would be the perfect opportunity.

Now I am still pretty much a novice when it comes to decorating sugar cookies but here is the progression...

I made the dough first thing in the morning and let it chill 2.5hrs. That was the perfect amount of time! It was perfect to roll out cut and bake the cookies. I let the cookies cool all afternoon and evening before beginning the first wave of decorating that night.
The stars were all done in that first go. The next morning I woke up and put on the white stripes before church. Sunday night I added the red stripes and dipped my cake pops. I'm not showing those pictures because it was messy and frustrating. I rushed the cake pops and wasn't able to perfect them the way I would have liked.
In the end I had these cute little buckets of festive treats to give to the women I visit teach, the elders, and each of our parental families.
